The Government to soon launch the farmer-friendly crop insurance scheme to maximize benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), to maximize the benefits Govt invited suggestions from states to make it more farmer-friendly. The aim of this scheme is just to maximize benefits to farmers and cover their risks, The government is evaluating making this scheme voluntary for farmers while introducing a risk-pooling system wherein the government will have more control right from deciding the premium to fixing payouts. and Insurance companies would only have an administrative role in implementing the programme
