While Telangana depends on neighbouring Maharashtra and Karnataka to ensure onion supplies to consumers in the state, a poor yield during this kharif has made matters worse. Supplies from within the state have also taken a hit thanks to a low yield. While onions are cultivated in 5000 acres the crops sown area fell drastically in this kharif. Only 1,700 acres came under cultivated area, leading a dip in the crop yield.
